Be encouraged and blessed by Romans chapter 8.
The main point of Romans chapter 8 is to teach the children of God the important obligation of living a life being led by the Holy Spirit of God (Ro. 8:12-14). In order to do that, the children of God need to seek what the Spirit desires (8:5). Paul compares a sinful person who is controlled by a sinful nature to a child of God who is controlled by the Spirit of God.
SEEKING SINFUL DESIRES – A sinful person has his mind set on sinful desires (8:5). A mind set on sinful desires is hostile to God, does not submit to God’s law, cannot please God, and it leads to death (8:7-8).
SEEKING WHAT THE SPIRIT DESIRES – Sons and daughters of God who live according to the Spirit has his or her mind set on what the Spirit desires. A mind set on what the Spirit desires brings life and peace (8:6). 1.) The Spirit will help the children of God pray and intercede for the saints (8:26-27). 2.) The person who has the Spirit of Christ must put to death the misdeeds of the body and not be a slave to fear (8:13-15). 3.) As an heir of God and a co-heir with Christ, we can share in his glory if we share in his sufferings while we eagerly hope for the redemption of our bodies (8:17-23). 4.) For the person who loves God, nothing will separate him from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (8:28, 35-39).
In this life, we can actually be conformed to the likeness of Jesus Christ, the Son of God (8:29). For the children of God who are being transformed by the renewing of their mind, from sinful to righteous, they will be graciously blessed because God is for them not against them (8:31-32).
